About Carol…

Carol Dunaway is a former nurse who has been a student of yoga since the late 1970′s.  In 2007, she received her yoga teaching certification through the American Viniyoga Institute, with founder Gary Kraftsow.  She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the E500 hour level and has over 200 hours of training through Parayoga, with founder Rod Stryker.  Carol has also studied with Judith Hanson Laseter, Paul Grilley, and Saul David Raye.  She completed her 500-hour Yoga Therapy Certification with the American Viniyoga Institute in October of 2009.  Most recently, Carol completed a month-long study in Chennai, India at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarin (KYM).  (The KYM is a school dedicated to the teachings of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, and was founded by his son, TKV Desikachar, both of whom were instrumental in the yoga education of Gary Kraftsow.)  In addition, Carol is also a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Carol believes in keeping yoga true to its roots which are thousands of years old.  Because of this belief, she chose to study with teachers who can trace a direct teaching linage back to ancient times.

In addition to certifications in yoga, Carol is also a fully certified Stott Pilates teacher.  This includes all levels of mat and equipment work, as well as the specialties of working in post rehabilitation and special populations, such as prenatal and senior individuals.  Her training totals over 750 hours of education in Stott Pilates.

The CNRGY philosophy is that each person is unique and deserves a unique and individual approach.  Rather than make the individual fit the program, Carol tailors the program to suit each individual’s needs.
